These photos were taken last Saturday on that lazy day I already talked a little about, and we’ve taken photos on this same street too so I don’t really have anything interesting to say about it.  Right now I’m mostly excited to go to Tennessee to see my family.  My sister Ashley and her family are in Atlanta for the night, and bright and early tomorrow morning we’re going to get up and take the four and a half hour drive to my parents’ house outside of Nashville.  I’m excited!  I’m still so caught up in this brand new blog thing that I’m sure I’ll be doing lots of blog posting.  You can expect some sister posts, Tennessee history ramblings, funny countryside photos, food ravings, and Karen Elson/Jack White sightings.  Well, probably not that last one, but I guess I can’t rule it out.

Kate Sylvester S/S 10

I think the collections I’ve been most inspired by this summer all come from Australia and New Zealand, so it’s really not that much of a surprise that I’d love this one by New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester.  It has a little of everything I like best about fashion labels from down under–romantic looks mixed with menswear, laid-back styling, and just the right amount of quirkiness.

This weekend was a pretty perfect one full of lots of sleep and laziness.  Yesterday I think I slept ’till two, and by the time we left the house it was 4 and our day was almost gone, but we had a good night of art show and restaurant and magical-munchkin-yellow-brick-road-lantern-parade-going.  It was good.  But maybe I liked today better because it was so cheerfully sunny all day, and because I started the day off with a chocolate/cream cheese muffin and americano at the amazing Bakeshop, and because we did lazy Sunday things like take blog photos and go to the dance club mall, where like usual I didn’t buy a thing, though I did fall hard for this dress at Urban Outfitters (it’s gorgeous, but for $78.00?)

We meant to stop at a park we’ve been to before in Peachtree Heights, but we couldn’t find it and stumbled upon tiny little Sunnybrook Park instead, and it ended up being even better than the one we’d meant to find because it was small and quiet (we were the only ones there) and kind of forgotten about.  It had stone staircases and bridges and wooded paths, but the best part was the stream that’s so perfect for wading.  It reminded me of one I used to go to with my sisters near my grandparents’ house in Tennessee when we were little kids.  And then it made me even more excited for this week’s trip to Tennessee (I leave on Tuesday and promise to do lots of posts on it!).

Other reasons why it was a perfect Sunday?  For one thing I got to wear this dress for the first time.  I’d been looking for a polka dot dress for ages, but the only ones I really loved were too expensive, and the ones I could afford (like some at H&M) were sort of, not great.  I found some at thrift stores, but never one that really fit me until I came across this one on Friday at the thrift store in my suburb.  It’s very ’90s and perfect!  Already short, simple, and even light and Atlanta weather appropriate.  (this weekend I discovered that wearing weather-appropriate clothes makes life so much better)

After that we went home and ate fruit, got excited when Germany beat England in the World Cup game (I don’t really like sports but I do like Germany), tried to run outside in the heat but ended up going home early when I got too lightheaded (or, foot-ed).  And then we made breakfast for dinner–I made biscuits from scratch for the first time ever and Drew fried up some eggs and vegetarian sausage, and then our friend Zack (in overalls) brought over a magical drink he made of whisky and blackberries that is guaranteed to make you write extra strange blog posts.

New auctions are finally up!  We’re in the process of overhauling the store too so it should have a brand new look by the time next week’s batch of auctions start, but now you can get a peak at the new set and some of the things I’ve been gathering over the month.  These will all end Thursday as usual, but just to let you know I’ll be out of town for the 4th of July holiday and won’t be able to ship anything ’till Tuesday (or Monday if the post office isn’t closed, but I think it is!).  Hope you like them!

Thanks for coming to the new blog! This is one of the surprises I’ve been hinting at over the last few weeks and it’s been hard to keep secret. I was on Blogger for just about three years and loved it, but I guess I just wanted something more simple with a slightly different format to maybe shake things up. I’m crossing my fingers that it will make me feel the way I felt when I just started blogging and was so excited about it that I had more ideas for blog posts than time to write them.

Drew designed the new site and he and his friend built it, so all credit goes to them! I’m slowly learning how to find my way through a WordPress blog dashboard. I might make some mistakes for a while and I honestly still don’t know how comments and RSS feeds will work with the new site, but I’ll do my best to figure it all out.

I’ve been hoarding these photos away on my computer so I could wait to display them on the new blog. Drew took these last Saturday afternoon when his parents were over, and we drove to the sort of fancy, newly-redeveloped White Provisions on Howell Mill Rd. for some new scenery. But it turned out to be all wrong for this outfit, so we wandered around the area and then Drew said he remembered a little hidden garden right beside a restaurant. And it was perfect, even if it was mosquito-infested. Well most of the south seems to be.

PS–thanks so much for your nice comments and for liking the new blog!  Some of you asked if new entries can show up on Google Reader and other RSS readers: you can subscribe to this blog right here.

I’m working on getting that figured out though so I’ll let you know what happens!
