Even though we go to Atlanta’s Westside Provisions a lot we’ve never taken blog photos there. Well, once we tried, but the outfit was flowery and all wrong for it.  Westside Provisions is half industrial, half old . . .  It’s a huge dining/shopping complex built on the site of Atlanta’s old meatpacking district.  When I first moved to Atlanta I remember seeing the old early 1900s White Provisions slaughterhouse and being scared that the condo people would get to it and tear it down (it was awfully pretty for a slaughterhouse), but it’s still here, only modernized.  Some of my favorite places are in the area . . . . West Egg (my favorite breakfast spot!), Taqueria del Sol, Star Provisions (they have amazing desserts and fancy candy bars.  It’s an awfully tempting place when you wander over from Taqueria del Sol after a margerita).  Plus Anthropologie just opened a new store in an old industrial building across the street, and I went there yesterday with Jamie and it was so good it made all the clothes look better.  (mostly we liked the furniture though).

Before we went to Anthropologie Jamie and I went to a tea party our friend Karla hosted.  Like usual I forgot my camera, but maybe I can borrow some photos to show you all later.  All weekend long I’ve been pretty much socializing or sleeping.  On Friday night we went to a Todd Selby/Elliott Erwitt photography show at the Jackson Fine Art Gallery here in town.  I made cupcakes, took two naps, and now we’re getting ready for a visit from Lauren and Neil.

Steven Alan S/S 2011

I saw this collection on Steven Alan the other day and it’s been inspiring me in the thrift stores all week.  I already have a vague idea of how I want to be dressing this spring . . . well, sort of.  Part of me wants to be dressing in long Edwardian-ish dresses (this happens to me every spring) and then the other part wants to wear simple dresses and flat sandals and shoes.  So of course I love the simple dresses in this collection best.  That last dress is a dream dress  . . . It kind of reminds me of something by the Swedish label Permanent Vacation, which seems to have disappeared.  Does anyone know what happened?  Their stuff inspired me every spring.  But I figure that this collection will be good simple inspiration enough.  I’m off to the thrift stores again today to track down light spring sweaters and smock dresses.

A few glimpses of spring in this week’s mini update . . . Check out the store for floral mini dresses, a perfect starry party dress, spring sweaters, and a Coach satchel.

Blue Spring Flowers Mini Dress . . . . . . . 5. 1990s Black A-line Mini Dress .. .. . . . . . . 6. White Crochet Lace Cropped Sweater.

Lulus.com Gift card Giveaway

I’m officially on the lookout for things for spring. Today in the thrift stores I was hunting for the perfect long-ish light-colored skirt, funny ’90s sandals, and long white dresses, even though I won’t be able to wear them for a while. It’s fun to fantasy shop online too. I had a good time picking out my favorite spring things from Lulus.com, but one of you will be able to do a bit of real shopping with one $50 giftcard that’s up for grabs.

To enter just leave a comment here. You can tell me something that’s on your wishlist from Lulus.com, or really anything. Just leave your email address if you don’t have a blog/profile to link to.

Good luck!

Colenimo S/S 2011

I was sent these images for Colenimo’s spring 2011 lookbook back in October, when fall was still making its way to Atlanta and warm weather outfits were the kinds I wanted to forget. I like them a lot more now that spring (though not summer!) is inching closer and is actually something I can get excited about again. I may not be ready for it yet but when spring comes along I wouldn’t mind wandering around in little floral and check dresses like these . . .

Colenimo always has the best collection inspirations, too. This particular one was inspired by a 1928 photo by Edward Steichen, showing four women on a yacht, looking out on the water, graceful and casual at the same time.  But what I really love is how designer Aya Nakagawa took ’20s-inspired clothes and updated them with such a good, dreamy soft-focus photoshoot.
