Steven Alan S/S 2011

I saw this collection on Steven Alan the other day and it’s been inspiring me in the thrift stores all week.  I already have a vague idea of how I want to be dressing this spring . . . well, sort of.  Part of me wants to be dressing in long Edwardian-ish dresses (this happens to me every spring) and then the other part wants to wear simple dresses and flat sandals and shoes.  So of course I love the simple dresses in this collection best.  That last dress is a dream dress  . . . It kind of reminds me of something by the Swedish label Permanent Vacation, which seems to have disappeared.  Does anyone know what happened?  Their stuff inspired me every spring.  But I figure that this collection will be good simple inspiration enough.  I’m off to the thrift stores again today to track down light spring sweaters and smock dresses.

I love the clothes that are posted here, as i think old 20s – 50s clothes are absolutely super!
For ideas on spring fashion i reccomend you watch the modern film Atonement, which is set in the thirties! A cracking film, and clothes to die for xxx

This is definitely one of the best collections you’ve posted! I’m not usually into so much simplicity, but I would absolutely live in the first and last dresses. They’re just wonderful!

This collection has been popping up on so many blogs, and every time I see it I get excited. They are all so simple that it seems like it might be a good time for me to finally learn how to use my sewing machine, since I won’t be able to splurge on any Steven Alan. Have you seen his Nike collaboration? Nice plain simple walking shoes, he somehow got Nike to agree to subvert their branding and let the simple design take over.

Gorgeous! I especially loved the 3,5,6,9,10 and 14 (last one).
    Thanks for your inspiration!
