I know I keep going on and on about the desert, but ever since our trip last fall to Palm Springs I haven’t been able to forget it. I was sick when we went and so we couldn’t go to some of the places we wanted to go (Joshua Tree) so we vowed to go back one day. I don’t know when it will be but all those pictures from Coachella a few weeks ago are making me want to plan an imaginary trip and to pack up an imaginary suitcase, too . . . .

Palm Springs House Tours. Supposedly there are celebrity tours where you can see where old Hollywood stars lived and stayed back when Palm Springs was even more amazing. I’d be happy just taking house tours and learning more about the history of the place (and to walk in the footsteps of Marlene Dietrich and Joan Crawford).

Joshua Tree. This isn’t a very sensible Joshua Tree outfit, but to tell you the truth the outfit I was planning on wearing there last September was even less sensible. I was going to wear shoes with three-inch heels; I think maybe it was a good thing I got sick and we had to turn back. These shoes are a little bit more sensible, and a southwestern ’70s-style crop top seems perfect.

Ace Hotel Swimming Pool. This is where we spent most of our time on our September trip, and where we’d probably spend just as much next time on our next trip. It can seem scary and hipster in photographs I see of it, but when we went it was quiet and relaxing and not too intimidating. And the views of the mountains and palm trees in the background are about as good as they come.

i went to coachella for work a couple of years ago and have wanted to go back for just a visit ever since. this sounds like pretty much the perfect way to do it!
Aww, Coachella must have been wonderful. I really wanted to go a few years back when Jarvis Cocker played but I never made it out.
Oh goodness, beautiful choices. I think my favourite is outfit combo number one! (I can’t resist those sunglasses!)

You and a few other bloggers got me into Swedish Hasbeens, but I think you influenced me the most, so I want to say thanks ha ha. I don’t usually like closed-toe heels like that, but overall, I like that first outfit and I love the simplicity of all of them. By the way, aren’t you getting married soon?
Also, some random silent film questions: What do you think of Clara Bow and Louise Brooks? Underrated, overrated or normal? (I hear about them a lot) And what is your favorite silent film?
Yeah, Swedish Hasbeens! Don’t you love them? When I bought my first pair I was scared about the price and that I wouldn’t wear them much but I wear mine all the time, with tights and without!
Weddings–yes, but I never talk about it because I haven’t been planning at all. I’m the most uninterested person in the world when it comes to weddings and I really need to get planning.
I really like both Clara Bow and Louise Brooks! When I watched It I could definitely see why Clara was such a big star. I like Louise a ton–sometimes I think her acting is overrated, but as a person and writer I really like her. She was funny and sharp.
My favorite silent film (right now) is probably Show People with Marion Davies. I really like the funny ones best . . . The Patsy is good too! As far as serious ones go my favorite must be The Crowd.
Oops, I meant the second outfit, when referring to the closed-toe shoes.
Absolutely adore this – especially that Anthro summer suit. So sweet!
They are all gorgeous, I love your make believe outfits!! <3
Thanks, I’m so glad you like them! It’s fun putting them together with all this amazing stuff I wish I could afford
While I’m not usually into people’s wishlist collages, I actually have saved several of yours to my desktop. They remind me how fun it is to pretend to have something (sometimes more fun than having it), like I used to with toys when I was a kid!
i LOOOVE that first dress! and that anthro swimsuit. you and i both have desert fever. keep the inspiration pictures coming!

You know, going through your blog really inspires me to dress more feminine, because I always wear clothes that make me look like a dude (which I am not!).
Can’t wait for more outfit posts (imaginary ones and real ones!)
Ohhh, how I love the last pretend outfit! That swimsuit is just gorgeous and perfect for a lazy day at the beach.
I could totally wear that first outfit if I was going to palm springs or not!
ohhh I love those madewell platforms! the laces and peep toe are amazing.
I just love the dress in the first set, and the summer suit in the last – but why is Anthropologie so darn pricey!! : ) How do you think you would wear the summer suit, just to lie out in the sun or is it for swimming? Never heard of a ‘summer suit’ before!

Just went on this exact trip, to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree! The desert is really wonderful…the park in Joshua Tree is amazing…your shoes aren’t too nonsensical the boulders are pretty smooth and easy to climb around on (I was wearing sandals!) make sure you visit Pappy & Harriett’s in Pioneertown when you go, great food and live music every night of the week, and the motel behind it is really cute and unique (the Pioneertown Inn)!!
That Nadja dress is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. really enjoy your blog! following… <3 EverRubyGirl.blogspot.com
