I think the stuff you have is all nice, but charging 70 dollars for something you found in a thrift store i think is a bit too much… :/

  2. Kara says:

I would have to agree with Tilly. While these items are all very cute, there are a million other places to buy almost the same thing… for way cheaper! :(

  3. Matariki says:

I disagree. I think it is easy to look at these items and see how well presented they are without fully appreciating the work that went behind creating the lookbook, hiring the model, finding such beautiful pieces in the first place etc.
Everything looks great, best of luck to you! x

Well i personally really love the paisly maxi dress and the eugenia embroidered sundress. And as an avid thriftstore shopper i know its hard to come across such unique and beautiful dresses. I mean it takes alot of work to find that perfect dress or item, consistently checking and rummaging through all the junk. So i really believe that Rhiannon deserves alot more credit than these commenters are giving her.

I am giving her credit, I think she does find some lovely things and i’m not trying to be mean or anything! I have bought from her eBay shop in the past, and although the items have been lovely they were nice thrift store finds, not something that I would have paid loads of money for. If Rhiannon wants to charge 70 dollars for a thrift store dress then fine, as obviously people seem to be willing to pay those prices. All I’m saying is that personally 70 dollars is alot of money for me, so I’d rather spend it on something that ‘looks’ like it’s worth 70 dollars.

Thanks for your comments, everyone! I definitely like to hear feedback. As far as our prices go, yes, they are more expensive than thrift store prices. Not everything we find comes from a thrift store–we find a lot of things at local vintage and antique shops that aren’t anywhere near thrift store prices. And as Matariki said, the costs of hiring models, site maintenance, renting a studio, buying equipment, and small business fees/taxes definitely figure into our prices.

We really try to keep things reasonable, but at the same time try to have a small collection of only stuff we really love, which means extra thrift store hunting and buying things from vintage dealers that may have already marked them up. There are definitely cheaper online vintage stores on Etsy and Ebay, but there are also more expensive ones too. We just want to sell what we love, and present everything in a way that fits us best.

I love your new website!! You always pick out the prettiest vintage items.

Just reading some previous comments, in the UK vintage is much more expensive. You can easily pay up to £100 for a simple dress, more if it is beaded or embellished. $70 for a good quality vintage garment is very reasonable, especially when you consider the extra time and cost by selling online on a professional site :)

I disagree too. I mean look at sites like vintage loves at free people (http://www.freepeople.com/vintage-loves/), things are definitely at a higher price point than here and i feel they are curated just a well. From an overhead stand point too running a small store is a completely different thing that having an etsy one. I own my own small buisness in the states, it’s non retail but still it takes quite an investment to get things up and running. Also, I googled some of the designer pieces and they are being sold here less expensive than anywhere else i could find.
I think you’re doing a great job Rhiannon!!

I think you should get Sarah back as a model, she made everything look amazing!

  10. You have such beautiful garments for sale! And your model is just gorgeous! x
