I know that casts/splints make for funny blog pictures, but I miss the old days of going out to historical sites and taking photos, so here’s a silly attempt . . . On Saturday Drew had to run an errand on the east side of town where we never go, so I looked up nearby historical sites and found the Donaldson-Bannister farm in Dunwoody.  Apparently it’s a by appointment only sort of historical site, and the gates were locked, and when I tried to hop the fence Drew stopped me, so we didn’t get to walk around the place at all.  There’s a cemetery somewhere and a lot of farm buildings that we didn’t see, but it’s ok.  Someday I’ll go back.

It’s pretty great to be back in Atlanta.  I was really lazy this weekend after the busy, busy week, and spent as little time in the car as I could.  On Friday night we ate out at Yeah Burger on our side of town.  On Saturday after going to Dunwoody we stopped at Borders so I could look for Lula (not yet!) and then went to this carnival thing that Drew had to go to.  It was held at this old falling-apart ’20s mansion that supposedly is overrun with squatters, and the whole thing felt so much like a production of Godspell that we had to leave.  Too many mosquitoes anyway.

Today was better, though.  It’s the 4th of July, and even though our park cookout plans got rained out we still got to have a get-together with friends at our house.  I wore black and white and drank Mexican Coke.

I love that cream/off-white dress! That’s one of my favorite colors to wear! :)

  2. It’s such a pretty building (even from a distance!) I think you look wonderful – even with your cast! I hope it is healing well! I’ve never broken a bone, and completely can’t understand how rubbish it must be! But you make it look so trendy! x

    • Rhiannon says:

Ha ha, thanks, I’m glad you think so. : ) It’s mostly just a nuisance to break a bone. All the one-armed helplessness and waiting for the splint to come off is so much worse than the actual pain of it.

Such pretty photographs. Too bad you couldn’t go inside! I love your dress though and how summery each of these photos looks

  4. These photos are great! And I’m sorry to hear about your cast – I hope your arm is feeling better!

  6. You look absolutely lovely, even with the cast! I have that dress but it has been packed away while it’s winter here, can’t wait to wear it again :)

    • Rhiannon says:

Thanks, Elyse! Are you in Australia? I love this dress . . . might wear it with a sweater and tights when winter comes.

Cute as a button, cast and all. These photographs make me wish that it was Summer in Australia!

Aww, thanks! Well a lot of times I wish it was winter here. I’m not sick of summer clothes at all but sometimes it gets so hot and miserable that I just want to stay inside all day (which honestly I do).

  8. Casey says:

So pretty! I just love how you always find neat old spots to take your outfit photos at. :)

  9. Love the picture of you standing next to the fence! I must say your dress is really beautiful.

Oh you look lovely! cast and all! I just bought a beautiful mink pink dress! Such amazing summer dresses eh, I’ve honestly worn in four times in the last week : )

    • Rhiannon says:

Thanks, Caitlin! I love Mink Pink stuff . . . so Australian! I think I’ve worn this dress 3 times already in a week if it makes you feel any better, ha ha.

You look great! They dress is very petty and very flattering on you! Glad your home and had a good weekend!

  15. That’s such a pretty dress! It looks fantastic on you.

My fourth of July plans got rained out too – they cancelled the official state fireworks, but of course, about ten minutes after we got there.

As for hopping fences, it’s probably not the best idea when you’re in a cast. Haha, I hope you get it off soon!

    • Rhiannon says:

Thanks!! Ugh, that must have been the worst. Fireworks shows get so crowded as it is. I’m pretty sure ours got rained out, though we didn’t even try to see.

  16. Such a lovely dress! So carefree!

I used to work just a few minutes away from that place and I never even knew it was there! Atlanta has so many hidden gems. I am amassing such a big list of “places I need to see in my own city”!

I love the Modcloth dress – it’s so pretty and looks perfect for this summer heat!

    • Rhiannon says:

Sarah, yeah, it’s weird because it’s on a main, residential road . . . it’s super suburban, and then all of a sudden you see a 1800s farm. I feel the same way about Atlanta . . . just when I think i’ve been to every historic site I read about another one. It’s good.

only you could make a cast look cute! glad to see you out of that sling, lady :)

that is a great little frock AND I think the cast looks sort of like an alien/futuristic evening glove. souther belle does sci-fi. very nice!

Perfect outfit photos even with the cast, I barely noticed it in the first picture! It looks like a brilliant Southern day– look at the blue sky and puffy clouds! Surprisingly it’s been really rainy this summer in Chicago too which means mosquito bites. :(

    • Rhiannon says:

Thanks Leilani! Ha ha, glad you couldn’t really notice the old sling in the firs tphoto. I can’t decide which is worse–showing the splint/cast in full or hiding it behind my back, which might look even creepier. Anyhow that’s too bad about Chicago summers. I remember a lot of summers being like that in the midwest–way too many mosquitos, but I suppose at least it isn’t as hot?

such a nice dress and perfect with the tortoiseshell sunglasses. i used to hate looking around pretty much every newsagents in london for lula magazine just for it to be too early or sold out. then i found http://www.newsstand.co.uk i pre-order it before and when they release the magazine it gets sent to me, that’s where i get all my american magazines too. i don’t know if they post to america or have an american version? btw, i don’t work for the website, lol. i just know how annoying it can be hunting down mags x

    • Rhiannon says:

Thanks Becki! I actually found it last night. I used to have a subscription, which was amazing, but at the same time it’s kind of fun to go look for it, even if it does come to Atlanta way too late. Gives me an excuse to go to Borders to look at magazines and drink coffee : )

  23. Rhiannon says:

Thanks so much, everyone! Thanks for being nice about my funny one-armed outfit posts : )
