If you told me that New Zealand label Lonely Hearts based their newest collection on the movie The Matrix I’d tell you that I wasn’t going to like it very much . . . I think I read about their inspirations in a review before I actually saw the photos and jumped to conclusions and expected something completely dark and futuristic and all shiny leather, maybe with hints of Lady Gaga (not a fan) . . . But then I saw the photos and was happy that I was wrong, because it’s all classic Lonely Hearts, with plenty of ’90s-esque skater dresses, sheer tights, maxi dresses and high waist shorts.
this all looks so lovely, I wish they’d ship to the UK! also, the model needs a good meal inside her!

I live the tea dresses in the print and the striped shorts. The styling from their NZFW show was insanely 90′s and insanely cool. Love this collection and can’t be blamed if I start saving now for next year to get some in. my. life.
Oh my, I love this collection. So beautiful. But I can’t seem to figure how the Matrix would be the inspiration behind it. Hmm. I would associate the Matrix with something Lady Gaga-esque, which is not my thing, but hey, everybody can find beauty in even the weirdest things. I am impressed.
Yeah, I didn’t see the Matrix either (which was good). I guess there was a lot of black leather (that I didn’t post) but even that was just kind of more casual ’90s than full on Matrix or Lady Gaga (thank goodness!).
You know I love it.. The striped garments have a cool color combination, I would love to wear that.
I love the collection – as usual, but just like everyone else I don’t see the Matrix association either – Which is fine with me! Perhaps the long willowy black dress is a little Matrix-y? I really love those last leather shorts at the end – they are in such a cute cut and they’re the total opposite of the typical biker-esque image that comes to mind when you think of black leather shorts.

I can see the matrix in the simple 90s shapes of the dresses, the exposed shoulders (masculine, like Trinity!), but I would never have picked it unless you’d said.
