Necklace: Vial Element Necklace from Natalie Joy
Blouse: Madewell (gift from Jamie)
Skirt: Secret Squirrel (from Silent Sundays)
Sunglasses: Karen Walker
Belt: thrift store
Shoes: Ferragamo, from Kudzu Antiques.

This weekend it was sunny, but not warm, and definitely not as warm as it might look in these pictures.  I was too stubborn to bring out the black tights, wanting to wear things that were halfway spring-ish instead.  After we took these pictures I threw on a coat and boots to go eat veggie burgers at FarmBurger and then brave the always crazy (but good) farmer’s market.  It was sunny and cheerful the whole weekend, though I stayed inside for most of it, baking, reading, Downton Abbey-watching . . .  I didn’t get much done, but it’s ok, because this week I’m going to try to catch up on just about everything I’ve been slacking on.  Running, email writing, blog/work stuff, and most important but most scary of all: go to the DMV to get a new license.  (I finally got my name changed last week, a good three months after I ought to have done it, ugh).

So nothing interesting to write about my weekend at all, but I did like this outfit because I like wearing longer skirts lately and because I’ve worn this blouse Jamie got me lots of times since I got it but not on my blog yet.  The shoes are practically flat, and I think I had Hannah of Foxtail and Fern in mind when I bought them, because she finds the best vintage Ferragamos.  These may look sensible, but they dig into the back of heels still, which explains why I had to change into less sensible but more comfortable boots when we went to the farmer’s market.  And the necklace is one of my new favorites.  I’ve loved the jewelry line Natalie Joy ever since Natalie collaborated with Anja on a gorgeous lookbook, so when Natalie offered to send me a necklace I was really excited.  This particular necklace is one from the spring line and has a tiny little dandelion seed in it (though if you’re looking for one similar that’s in the shop right now this one is pretty close).  Natalie’s stuff is so good and modern, and would go just perfectly with the clothes in my dream wardrobe that I’d like to overthrow my current one for.  More grown-up, for sure.

PS, is anyone else as excited as I am about the 4th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race?!

  2. What a perfect (pretend) Spring outfit! And me! I’m excited about season 4 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race!

  3. Anthe says:

You look great in your Pretend Spring Outfit! All the pieces
are just right and the skirt is a perfect length!

  4. Anne says:

Very nice outfit! Wish I could see more of the blouse since it looks like it has a collar :P Your height works well with that skirt, although you’ve worn many lengths very well!

Also, have you seen The Artist? What’d you think?

    • Rhiannon says:

Thanks, Anne! The collar is the best part . . . I’ll do another post with it sometime.

And I haven’t seen The Artist! I’m afraid to . . . it’s getting so many rave reviews, and I need to see it because it’s a silent movie, but . . . the previews look kind of over-the-top pastiche (but looks more ’30s than ’20s, with the Thin Man’s dog and Busby Berkely-esque dance numbers?? weird), and I’m nervous it won’t be good and I’ll be embarrassed for dragging Drew to it, just like I was when I made him see 500 Days of Summer (ugh).

Have you seen it? I really need to give it a try.

      • Anne says:

I did see it. I enjoy silent films so I’ve seen enough of the original ones of the ’10s, ’20s, and early ’30s to become accustomed to how I think they should look and be. With that said, I, personally, was a little let down because of the amazing reviews, but it’s still a nice film. I had complaints that the leading actress looked too modern or they could have done better with her look, as well as her extreme chipperness. Overall, though, Dujardin looks very old-fashioned to me in a good way, and I wouldn’t mind seeing more silent films made, regardless. And, did you not like (500) Days of Summer? I sure didn’t.

        • Rhiannon says:

The leading actress–yes! Just doesn’t look silent film star enough . . . when I heard that her husband was the director it kind of made more sense to me. Good to hear that it’s not a bad film–it’s just hard to live up to all that hype, I guess. I keep on hearing people rave about how good it is and just know I’m going going to like it quite as much.

500 Days of Summer–I don’t understand the hype behind that one either. I hated just about everyone in that movie, and it made me so mad how they gave the female lead a closet full of pretty dresses and an unrealistically beautiful apartment but no personality of her own. And so much cringe-worthy dialogue, and that ending! I thought Drew would hate me for making him sit through it.

  5. this outfit is totally reminiscent of foxtail and fern! i think it’s lovely. now i want all those necklaces.

This winter has been so mild, but not quite mild enough to go bare legged. Oh, I’m pining for spring! Such a pretty, spring-like outfit!

  7. Sarah says:

YES. RuPaul’s Drag Race is amazing television programming.

  8. good blog

    I love your outfits..:))))))

  9. Brittany says:

I just got married 3 months ago and still havent changed my last name on my liscense either so dont feel so bad, and congraduations! Dont you just love being married? I do. Love the outfit!

    • Rhiannon says:

Ha ha, now I don’t feel so bad. On the Georgia DMV site they make it seem like you’ll be arrested if you don’t change your name in a certain amount of days. I’m going tomorrow and am expecting a lecture.

And being married . . . yes. I didn’t think it would make a huge difference, and I spent most of my life thinking I would turn corny and boring if I ever got married, but it’s pretty wholesome.

  10. Rhiannon says:

    Thanks everyone!!

This is lovely! It’s sunny outside here, and I’m so tempted to throw on as similar an outfit as I can, but I know i will freeze. Sadness. Never mind, love the idea of carrying spring around with you instead in the dandelion necklace xXx
