Do you remember last spring when every other post I did was desert-related and you probably just wanted fall to come so you wouldn’t have to see another Joshua Tree-themed photo shoot or desert inspiration picture on this blog?  I thought I got my fill in October when we went to Palm Springs, but this summer look book from Geronimo is making me want to go back.  The clothes in it are also making me want to be a good 5 (or 10) years younger: I decided sometime this year to put away the retro-inspired bathing suits, and I got a more grown up one from J. Crew instead, but damned if I don’t think these are adorable.

Yes! The bathing suits are wonderful. I especially like the first one. The little dresses do make the desert look much more inviting, to say nothing of the filtered lighting and dreaminess. Mostly I find the desert to be sharp and very bright; so it’s nice to see someone with a different perspective on it. I do have to say on the theme of ruffled bums, and being 5-10 years younger to wear them, I saw a little gal in the library today at school (I teach at a university) with a pair of ruffled panties and a pink sweater. On one hand she looked cute in a very surreal kind of way; on the other, I think I was so startled to see such a vision in a UC library that I’m not sure what to say. Maybe I was in a Man Ray film and just didn’t realize it?? Anyway, I don’t get tired of seeing/reading you romanticizing the desert. Living on the edge of it, I mostly feel resentful of things like Santa Ana winds and piercing sunshine that melts sunscreen into my eyes, to say nothing of the intolerably long hot days from June to September. But keep reminding me that it can be tender and sweet, please!

This collection looks lovely! And those swimsuits would just be perfect for hot summer days.

Aw, this makes me kind of sad as a 29 year old who struggles with age appropriateness. I’m slowly trying to phase out the peter pan collars and polka dot everything, but the idea of choosing a grown up bathing suit seems over the top. You’re still young, wear cute things for a few more years, at least to the beach anyways!
