
Supposedly, or at least according to the Oyster Magazine article I just read online, Lover’s latest batch of southern/northern hemisphere collections was inspired by Robert Altman’s 3 Women and Palm Springs. As far as I’m concerned, if there’s anything that can make a good collection better, it’s having a ’70s film inspiration behind it. Especially if it’s a Robert Altman one.
Mostly I like this collection because it’s such a good mix of vintage Lover and new Lover. Yes, there are clothes that are sleek and completely modern and thus slightly intimidating to me. But there are also hints of the old familiar Lover—white broderie anglaise mini dresses, Victorian shapes, and sheer, wispy dresses like that blue one above that’s really just magic.
