Penny Sage’s Fever Dream

No, I’m not ready for fall, and frankly I hope it’s a long time before we have to start wearing sweaters again here.  It’s hard to get too excited by all the fall collections that keep popping up online, but then again sometimes I see a collection like this one and can’t help but be a little inspired. Penny Sage is a New Zealand label that I first found out about when its last collection was making the Pinterest/Tumblr rounds.  I’m not sure why I didn’t post about it—it was beautiful.

But this fall collection is also really good.  Probably because it’s simple.  I’ve said it before, but I’ve fallen out of love with a lot of the Australian/NZ labels I used to be into because the trend-overload and busy styling is getting to be too much.  There has been so much rehashing of the same ’90s grunge looks that I don’t really care if I never see them again.  That’s why clothes like these are so refreshing.  Yes, trends can be fun, but sometimes all I really want to do is put on a loose silk dress and call it a day.

I couldn’t agree more. I keep finding myself gravitating towards simple, neutral, clean styles and I think it has a lot to do with the visual overload from so may designers at the moment. It’s a little disappointing because so many labels I loved caught my eye in the first place with their simplicity. Also a factor, simple neutrals never go out of fashion and I have grown sick of consuming so much clothing that I’d rather buy things I’m confident will stay in my closet for more than a year. Anyway, I love this collection and am glad to have found some new inspiring fuss-free looks!

The button up skirt and penny loafers look is pure perfection! dont you think that the ‘no trend’ is equally a trend? I hope not cos I like being in control of my wardrobe but sometimes I get worried that its the calm before the storm – if I make any sense.
