It’s funny what a good editorial campaign can do. Kate Sylvester’s last collection was probably just as good as her current one, but the Maggie Gyllenhaal Secretary-themed campaign weirded me out so much that I didn’t even bother posting about it. I loved the clothes when I saw them walked out on the runway, but that campaign? Too many models straddled across desks, sprawled out on office floors. I didn’t get it.
I definitely get this campaign, though. Kate Sylvester’s new summer collection was inspired by Jane Eyre, so the solitary model walking around in what looks like a New Zealand version of the Yorkshire moors couldn’t be better. It’s romantic, but more cheerful than Charlotte Bronte gothic, which is fine by me.
