Charlotte Strode

A big thanks to Oxford American for introducing me to the work of Charlotte Strode, a Kentucky-born photographer who makes Brooklyn her home. Up north she takes beautiful photos of Brooklyn scenes and Maine getaways, but once in a while she takes trips and pictures in the South, and of course those are the ones I like best. Photos of everything from Virginia mountains to Mississippi shacks to spanish moss-covered streets on the South Carolina coast. And lots of my favorite places in Georgia, including Andalusia and even the Nolan House . . .

Can I jut say that I have lived in both the north and the south, and boiled peanuts are my all time fav food. My dad calls the Goober Peas? Do Try!

Ha ha, goober peas. Drew’s southern born and he loves boiled peanuts. I’m not crazy about them, but I do like fried pickles. :)

Ohh! I can’t tell you how exciting it was to pull up my google reader and see my name on your blog! I have been following Liebemarlene for ages, and now The Southerly is one of my favorites. I recently started a blog of my own (who knows where it’s going), http://www.charlottestrode.blogspot.com, and wrote a post about Liebemarlene today. Anyways, thank you for including me!

Whoa, I just saw this comment now (sorry–I’m bad at checking them sometimes). So honored that you read this blog (and The Southerly) . . . such a small world! Not sure if your blog is still active (couldn’t get the link to work) but I’d love to read your blog if you start blogging again. Your photos are so beautiful; I think I end up liking every single one on your Instagram, ha ha.
