We’re having a cold week here in Atlanta, at least as far as I’m concerned. It’s been around 60 during the day, which technically isn’t even all that cold, but I’m still shivering—piling on the sweaters and making soup for dinner and dreading winter already. It’s not a good sign.
So I’ve been looking at cold weather editorials to try to get into the fall spirit. This particular one, shot by Lauren Ward, came out on Dossier Journal in the hot days of June, so I think I just took one look at the sweaters and coats and skipped it. But now I like it. I like the weird styling and the model’s hair and the chicken as prop. I also like the literary theme, even if I never was too crazy about Willa Cather.

My Antonia is one of my favourite books of all time! Willa Cather’s been my number one since college! I never came by this editorial so thanks for posting it!
Willa Cather’s your favorite? I’m going to have to give her another try. :)
i love these photos as well. there is something so beautiful about sort of a very american autumn feeling, esp. with the house they used in these photos.

I’ve been a fan of your blog for a while now, but am a first-time commenter! Is there any particular reason you’re not a Willa fan?
Thanks, Emily! Glad you like the blog!
Honestly I haven’t read any Willa Cather novels since high school, so I probably should give her another try. Which is your favorite of hers? (I read O Pioneers for school and My Antonia).
so beautiful, and I think that house at the last pic in this post was on your trip photographs right?
No, but it really looks like it! Never been to this house–looks like it might have been shot up North somewhere?
Yesterday was the coldest October day in forty years.
le foto sono bellissime e mi piacciono molto i vestiti ! :)
I like Willa Cather because I think it’s a grown-up version of The Little House in the Prairie, which I also liked. :P I love the styling of these photos.
