Lately I’ve just been wanting to get out of Atlanta. Over the weekend we escaped to visit my parents in Tennessee and had so much fun going to a Civil War reenactment (kind of—more of a demonstration, but still) and just hanging out with my family and spending time in a place that’s actually pretty that I’ve been depressed ever since we got back into town. This weekend is going to be warm and sunny, and I want to make a run for it again.
I’d settle for a weekend trip anywhere, but right now my dream vacation is one out west. I’ve been looking through the Documerica archives again. I first did a post on them almost two years ago exactly, which is weird now that I think of it. I had deserts on the brain back then and I still do now, complete with roadside attractions, tiny desert towns, and 1970s solar hippie houses.

Ahhh! These are SO beautiful. The style and attention to detail reminds me of William Eggleston – I don’t recognize any of the names on the Flickr page though..
I didn’t recognize the names either. There are so many good photos in the set; I haven’t even gone through a fourth of them all probably. : )
Which photographer are these from? They’re stunning.
I think they’re from different photographers hired for the Documerica series.
